Hawks Fall to Piedmont

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon (5-8 overall, 1-4 USA South) fell to in conference opponent Piedmont (9-4 overall, 5-0 USA South) with a final score of 19-10.

Freshman, Gage Kettlewell snuck one by the Piedmont goalie in the first two minutes of the game. In less than a minute, the Lions tied it at one. Scoring two more goals before the ten-minute mark in the first quarter, Piedmont looked to stay on top.

Back-to-back goals from Brady Moulton and Alexander Hero tied the game back up at three with 5:45 to go. Piedmont once again answered with a goal of their own, but Kettlewell scored his second goal of the night in the first quarter to retie the game and Caden Bacz took back the Hawks lead with a minute remaining (5-4).

After the first, a 9-2 second quarter from the Lions gave them a 13-7 lead heading into halftime. Gage Kettlewell scored two more goals in the second to lead the Hawks in scoring with four goals.

EJ Umphries stayed in the goal for Huntingdon and held Piedmont to three goals in the third as Hero and Ian Bruggeman scored for the Hawks (16-9). In the fourth, Kelcey Marston added a goal of his own but it was not enough to outshine three more from the Lions as Huntingdon fell to their conference opponent.
