Hawks Defeat Greensboro on the Road

GREENSBORO, NC – Huntingdon (6-8 overall, 2-4 USA South) defeated the Pride of Greensboro (5-9 overall, 2-3 USA South) 11-8.

Gage Kettlewell began the game with a 3-0 run on his own in the first five minutes. Kole Andres added one more goal for the Hawks before the Pride stepped up to score in the remaining 5 minutes (4-1). Huntingdon struggled in the second quarter as Greensboro went on a 3-0 run of their own to tie the game.

Kettlewell flew his fourth goal by the Pride goalie to regain the lead with three minutes left in the half and Caden Bacz pushed the lead to two before heading to halftime 6-4.

The Pride once again came out hot to tie the game at six goals. Alexander Hero and Bacz refused to let Greensboro take the lead as they accounted for the Hawks next two goals (8-6). A late goal in the third with 11 seconds left brought the game within one before heading into the final quarter.

Goalie, EJ Umphries stepped up his game only allowing one goal for Greensboro in the fourth quarter to back his team as they took care of things offensively. Kelcey Marston scored back-to-back goals of his own and Kettlewell earned his fifth goal of the game in the final two minutes to secure the Hawks win.

The Hawks will return to Montgomery for senior day on Saturday against the Pacers of William Peace.
