Hawks Taken Down By Point University

MONTGOMERY,Ala.- On Wednesday afternoon, Huntingdon men's lacrosse (2-5 overall) was defeated by the NAIA Point University Skyhawks (2-5 overall) in a highly competitive contest 12-9.

 

How it happened

 

First quarter

  • After 4 minutes of scoreless action, Point scored the first goal of the afternoon at the 10:40 mark

  • In response, Gage Kettlewell fired a shot past the goalkeeper to even the score at the 7:47 mark

  • The Skyhawks scored 3 unanswered goals to close the quarter with a 4-1 lead.

Second quarter

  • Following a goal from Point, Caden Bacz drilled a shot at the 8:05 mark to put the Hawks behind 5-2

  • The Skyhawks responded with another goal of their own to bring their lead to 6-2

  • To close the half, Brady Moulton and Caden Bacz both put in shots in the final minute of the half, putting the Hawks behind 6-4 entering the third quarter

Third quarter

  • To open the third quarter, Kelcey Marston got the Hawks on the board within the first 30 seconds of the second half to put the Hawks behind 7-6

  • Following Marston, Caden Bacz scored his third goal of the day at the 13:46 mark to even the score at 6

  • Point regained the lead 7-6 with a goal at the 5:56 mark

  • Not to be outdone, Caden Bacz scored yet again, this time to tie the game at 7 with 4:09 remaining in the quarter

  • A Skyhawk goal at the 1:01 mark gave Point a 8-7 lead entering the final quarter of play

Fourth quarter

  • Still fighting, Tristan Dial put in a shot to tie the game at 8 with 13:31 to go

  • Point responded with four unanswered goals to take a 12-8 advantage with 2:20 remaining in the game

  • Gage Kettlewell scored with 53 seconds remaining, but the Hawks simply ran out of time, taking a 12-9 loss

  • #3 Caden Bacz- 4 goals, 1 assist, 1 ground ball

  • #29 JT Klam- 16 saves on 28 shots, 4 ground balls

 

The Hawks look to get back in the win column on March 13th in a home duel with Carroll (Wisconsin). Gametime is scheduled for 6:00 PM CT.
