Hawks Conclude Season With Senior Day Loss To Southern Virginia

MONTGOMERY,Ala.- In their final home game of the season, Huntingdon men's lacrosse(4-12 overall, 2-6 USA South) fell to the Knights of Southern Virginia University(7-10 overall, 6-2 USA South) 25-5.

Before the start of the game, the Hawks recognized their lone senior, Jack Young, for his steady commitment to the program throughout his four years, both on and off the field.

Highlights

Southern Virginia flew out of the gates, taking a 2-0 lead by the 11:46 mark. Sophomore Gage Kettlewell momentarily stopped the bleeding with a goal at the 8:04 mark, but the Knights were able to extend their lead to 5-1 over the next three minutes. Connor Angst would put in his first goal of the game at the 4:25 mark to cut the deficit to 5-2, but Southern Virginia closed the quarter with two more goals to hold a 7-2 advantage. 

The Knights went on to outscore the Hawks 10-2 in the second period, with Huntingdon seeing goals from Tristan Dial and Kelcey Marston, to hold a 17-4 halftime lead. The third quarter featured much of the same, with the Knights scoring five goals to Huntingdon's one (courtesy of Gage Kettlewell) to take a 22-5 lead into the fourth quarter. Huntingdon allowed three goals in the fourth while being held scoreless to suffer the 25-5 loss.
