Men's Lacrosse Picked 6th In USA South Preseason Coaches Poll
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- The USA South Athletic Conference's men's lacrosse coaches have released their 2025 preseason poll. Head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.
Coming off a 4-12 record last season, Huntingdon was voted sixth in the poll, receiving 27 total votes.
Pfeiffer was placed atop the rankings thanks to receiving 63 total points and seven of the possible nine first place votes. The two-time defending USA South Tournament champions finished last fall with an 8-0 Conference record to earn the program's third regular season title. Piedmont collected 54 total points and a first place vote to place second in the poll. Southern Virginia rounded out the top-three of the rankings with 49 total points and the final remaining first place vote. Pfeiffer is picked to capture the USA South title for the fourth time in the short history of the sport within the USA South.
The 2025 USA South Men's Lacrosse Tournament will once again be conducted exclusively on campus sites. The top-six seeded teams will advance to postseason play which will begin with first round action on Saturday, April 26. The higher-seeded team in each first round contest will serve as the host. The semifinals will take place Thursday, May 1 with the finals occurring on Saturday, May 3. The tournament's top-seeded team will host both semifinal contests as well as the championship.
The Hawks open their season at home on February 8th, hosting the NAIA Point University Skyhawks. They then travel to Oglethorpe before returning to Samford Stadium for a two-game home stand on February 21st and 23rd against St. Andrews and Centenary.
After a visit to Conway, Arkansas for a matchup with Hendrix, Huntingdon opens USA South play with home games against Brevard and William Peace. Following their showdown with the Pacers, the Hawks go on a three game road trip, facing Berry College before returning to conference play against Southern Virginia and LaGrange. Huntingdon closes the month of March on the 29th, hosting the preseason-favorites, the Pfeiffer Falcons.
On April 5th the Hawks pay a visit to Methodist University before returning to Montgomery to face off with the Pride of Greensboro College. On the 16th Huntingdon travels to Demorrest, Georgia to close USA South play against Piedmont before closing the regular season on 19th at home against Warren Wilson.
Only graduating one senior from last season, the Hawks take the field in 2025 with a team full of experience. Among those returning is attackman Kelcey Marston. The USA South All-Sportsmanship team member recorded 25 goals and 13 assists last season, and looks to continue being a vital option for Huntingdon's attack.
Just like last season, the 2025 roster features just one senior, Anthony Piazza. The attackman from Phoenix, Arizona will look to provide consistent leadership as the team embarks on their upcoming campaign.
