Men's Lacrosse Falls In Season-Opener To Point University

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Taking the field for the first time in their 2025 campaign at home, Huntingdon men's lacrosse played host to NAIA Point University. 

After taking a slight 6-5 lead into the halftime break, the Hawks were outscored 6-2 in the third period, resulting in a 13-9 loss to the Skyhawks.

First Quarter

  • Jaxon Mcmonigle scored the first goal of his career to get things underway at the 13:58 mark, putting Huntingdon ahead early
  • Kelcey Marston followed Mcmonigle with a shot at the 12:42 mark to push Huntingdon's lead to 2-0
  • Back-to-back goals for Point evened things with less than 3 minutes to go in the quarter
  • Tristan Dial put one in with 43 seconds left to put Huntingdon in front 3-2 heading into the second quarter

Second Quarter

  • The Skyhawks recorded two unanswered goals to start the second quarter, taking a 4-3 lead by the 12 minute mark
  • Tristan Dial stopped the bleeding at the 8 minute mark, putting one in off an assist from Kelcey Marston to even things at 4
  • Mcmonigle scored his second unassisted goal of the afternoon just a minute later to put Huntingdon back in front, 5-4
  • Following a Skyhawk goal at the 4:44 mark, sophomore JT Klam scored off a pass from Connor Angst inside the final 10 seconds to give Huntingdon a 6-5 halftime advantage

Third Quarter

  • Point scored at the 13:20 mark to open the second half, but Mcmonigle and Dial continued to shoulder the load for the Hawks, each scoring their third goals of the game to reclaim Huntingdon's lead, 8-6 with 10 minutes remaining in the quarter
  • The Skyhawks closed the third quarter on an offensive tear, scoring 5 unanswered goals to lead 11-8 as the fourth quarter got underway

Fourth Quarter

  • The Skyhawks opened the fourth quarter with another goal to push their advantage to 12-8 by the 11 minute mark. Mcmonigle put in his fourth goal of the afternoon to put the Hawks within 3, but Point managed to ice the game with a goal at the 2:46 mark, taking the 13-9 win
