Hawks Drop To Berry On The Road

MOUNT BERRY, Ga.- After splitting their opening two conference matchups, Huntingdon men's lacrosse hit the road for a shot non-conference hiatus against Berry College. The Vikings got an early lead and never looked back, holding the Hawks off en route to a 21-4 victory.

The first five minutes of the game saw little offensive production, but Berry managed to break the ice with their first goal at the 9:35 mark in the first quarter. This sparked a 5-0 scoring run that carried through the end of the first quarter and into the second as the Vikings extended their lead to 7-0 with 12 minutes remaining until halftime. Kelcey Marston and Jaxon Mcmonigle each scored in the next three minutes to cut the deficit to 6-2, but Berry quickly matched the pair of goals with their own to bring their lead to 8-2 with 6:45 remaining in the half. Mcmonigle put in another goal at the 6 minute mark to momentarily stop the bleeding, but the Vikings added another goal quickly after to maintain their six goal lead at 9-3 at the 4:54 mark. Josh Knost put a shot past the keeper at the 2:31 mark, but another Berry goal raised the advantage to 10-4 at the half.

The Vikings controlled every aspect of the second half, scoring 11 goals while holding the Hawks scoreless to claim a 21-4 victory. The Hawks fired off 8 of their 18 shots in the second half, but couldn't cash in as the deficit grew.

The Hawks look to bounce back on March 22nd at Southern Virginia. Gametime is set for 11:00 AM CT.
