Hawks Fall At Home To USA South Preseason Favorite Pfeiffer University

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- In search of a bounce-back victory following their 14-6 loss at LaGrange earlier this week, Huntingdon Men's Lacrosse welcomed the USA South Athletic Conference preseason-favorites, Pfeiffer University, to Samford Stadium.

How it happened

The Falcons gathered control of the game from the onset, outscoring the Hawks 10-0 in the first quarter to quickly distance themselves from the Hawks. They tacked on another goal early in the second quarter to raise their lead to 11-0 before Tristan Dial got the Hawks on the board at the 12:42 mark. Although Dial's goal was quickly matched, Connor Angst followed up with a goal of his own to bring the score to 11-2. Pfeiffer closed the half with three unanswered goals to extend their lead to 15-2 before the break.

Josh Knost struck first in the second half, putting a shot past the keeper at the 12:36 mark to cut the Falcon lead to 15-3. A seperate 3-0 run from Pfeiffer over the course of the following five minutes brought the Falcons lead to 18-3 before Kelcey Marston's goal at the 4:46 mark brought the score to 18-4 entering the fourth quarter.

Two Pfeiffer goals to get the quarter started put the Hawks down 20-4 with 8 minutes left to play. Knost, Ky Rayford, and Jaxon Mcmonigle each put shots in as the game drew near, but the lead was insumountable, as Huntingdon fell 23-7.

In the goal

Liam Angst fell to 2-6 on the season playing all 60 minutes in the goal for Huntingdon, recording 20 saves on 43 shots.

The Hawks look to bounce back on April 5th at Methodist University. Gametime is set for 3:00 PM CT.
