Hawks fall 2-1 to Averett in overtime

DANVILLE, Va. – The Huntingdon men's soccer team played in its second straight overtime game in as many days, but lost 2-1 to Averett in a Sunday USA South athletic Conference game.

Killian Delmore scored his second goal of the season in the 77th minute to tie the game 1-1. Delmore scored off a free kick from 35 yards out after an Averett yellow-card.

Averett (5-8-0, 4-2-0 USA South) broke the scoreless tie in the 31st minute of the game. The Cougars fired 30 shots in the game while Huntingdon (2-7-1, 1-4-0 USA South) only managed seven shots.

The Hawks had to play with 10 men for more than half of the second-half and in overtime after Jean Jocelyn received his second yellow card in the 72nd minute.

Averett need only 1:50 in overtime to take the win.

Austin Stacey and Delmore each had two shots on goal. Brendon Van Emelen, Conner Howard and Karter Porter each took one shot.

Eathan Small recorded 10 saves while allowing two goals.

The Hawks travel to Covenant on Friday for a 3 p.m. conference matchup.
