MONTGOMERY, Ala.- In their final home contest of the season, Huntingdon men's soccer(3-9-1 overall, 0-5 CCS) was taken down by the Maryville Scots(5-8-3 overall, 2-2-1 CCS) 2 goals to 1, all of which came in the second half of the match.
Before the game got underway, Huntingdon recognized the program's seniors for their commitments both on and off the field throughout their career as a Hawk. This year's seniors are:
- Braden Ross of Murfreesboro, Tennessee
- Varian Carty of Alabaster, Alabama
- Lawson Pearson of Perkinston, Mississippi
- Carter Wysong of Mobile, Alabama
- Jacob King of Headland, Alabama
Earning the start in his final appearance at the Samford Soccer Complex, Braden Ross anchored Huntingdon's defensive effort as the team held Maryville scoreless through the first half. Ross recorded two of his eight total saves in the process. On the opposite side of the field, the Hawks couldn't turn their defense to offense, as they were left without a shot attempt through the first 45 minutes.
Coming out of the halftime break, the Scots broke the ice at the 60:41 mark, tapping in a loose ball following a save from Braden Ross to go ahead 1-0. Not to be outdone, Dashun McDonald capitalized on a penalty shot to even the score at 1. To take the victory, Maryville put in a shot inside the final 25 minutes to take the 2-1 victory.
The Hawks return to action on October 26th, traveling to face Asbury for their final regular season match of the season. Gametime is scheduled for 1:00 PM CT.
