Men’s tennis splits its season opening matches

JACKSON, Miss. – The Huntingdon men's tennis team split with Tougaloo College and Millsaps College on Saturday.

The Hawks opened their season with a 9-0 win over Tougaloo. Trey Pirtle (No. 1), Aaron Triplett (No. 2), Justin McQueen (No. 3), Ben Marler (No. 4), Seth McClendon (No. 5) and Bailey Burns (No. 6) all picked up singles wins.

In doubles play, the teams of John Jones-Pirtle (No. 1), McQueen-Triplett (No. 2) and Marler-McClendon (No. 3) each secured wins.

The Hawks fell 8-1 to Millsaps in their second match of the day. 

Huntingdon's lone win came in doubles play as the team of McQueen-Triplett won 9-8.

The Hawks (1-1) host Tuskegee on Monday at 1 p.m.
