Track and Field competes in Berry Field Day Invitational

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Huntingdon track and field teams competed in the Berry Field Day Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The Huntingdon men scored six points and finished 11th in the field of 12 teams. The Huntingdon women did not earn a team score.

The Huntingdon men competed with eight athletes in six events and the women's team competed with two athletes in three events. Each of the 11 Hawks set at least one personal best time.

 For the men, Jalyn Lewis turned in the first-year program's best times yet in the 200 and 400 meters and Mac Brooks turned in the young Hawks' best time yet in the 5000 meters.

Tyler Shirley and Harrison Jackson set their personal best times in the 200 meters. Alex Cole turned in his personal best times in the 400 meters, 800 meters and 1500 meters. Ryan Cole and Taylor Chestnutt each had their personal best times in the 800 meters and 1500 meters and Michael Storie recorded his personal best time in the 5000 meters.

On the women's side, Mary Stanley turned in the women's team's best time yet in the 800 meters and her personal best time in the 1500 meters. Gracie Davis set her personal best time in the 800 meters.

Lewis was 17th of 25 in the 200 meters with a time of 24:28 seconds and was 12th of 23 in the 400 meters with a time of 52.99 seconds

Shirley was 21st of 25 in the 200 meters with a time of 25:74 seconds and was 18th of 23 in the 400 meters with a time of 56.27 seconds

Jackson was 25th of 25 in the 200 meters with a time of 28:77 seconds and was 23rd of 23 in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.52

Chestnutt was 29th of 40 in the 800 meters with a time of 2:09.24 and was 40th of 44 in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:42.80.

Alex Cole was 19th of 23 in the 400 meters with a time of 57.18 seconds, was 37th of 40 in the 800 meters with a time of 2:18.85 and was 43rd of 44 in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:52.22.

Ryan Cole was 36th of 40 in the 800 meters with a time of 2:17.25 and was 42nd of 44 in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:51.55.

Storie was 34th of 37 in the 5000 meters with a time of 18:15.94.  

Brooks was 18th of 37 in the 5000 meters with a time of 16:43.78.

The Hawks competed with two teams in the 4x400-meter relay. The A team of Shirley, Chestnutt, Alex Cole and Lewis finished 4th of eight with the Hawks' best time of the season -- 3:39.69. The B team of Brooks, Jackson, Storie and Ryan Cole finished 8th of eight with a time of 4:05.48.

For the women, Stanley was 14th of 26 in the 800 meters with a time of 2:32.96 and 25th of 39 in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:24.96.

Davis was 18th of 20 in the 400 meters with a time of 1:10.65 and 25th of 26 in the 800 meters with a time of 2:49.55.
