Huntingdon softball sweeps Judson

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Jade Reynolds scored on a Lauren Welch bunt in the bottom of the seventh inning to cap a Huntingdon comeback in Game 2 and complete a 6-2 and 5-4 sweep of Judson on Wednesday.

The Lady Hawks (8-8) fell behind 3-0 in the first inning before battling back. Reynolds and Brittany Richardson each scored a run in the third inning and Reynolds and Brooke Meadows scored in the fifth to tie the game 4-4.

Meadows, who picked up the win in six innings of relief, struck out two of the four batters she faced in the top of the seventh inning. Meadows scattered seven hits and struck out six. Melissa McClure picked up the win in Game 1, allowing five hits and striking out two.

Richardson and Reynolds led Huntingdon at the plate. Reynolds was 2-for-2 with three runs and two stolen bases in the second game. Richardson was 5-for-6 on the day. In Game 1, she was 3-for-3 with a single, a double, a home run, four RBIs and two runs.

The Lady Hawks jumped out to a 6-0 lead in Game 1. An Ashlee Zachmeyer RBI brought in the first run of the game before Richardson hit a two-run double and a two-run home run.

Kaetlen Brown finished 2-for-3 in the first game and McClure scored twice.

Huntingdon hosts Agnes Scott in a doubleheader on Saturday. Game 1 is set for 1 p.m.
