Division III Week Student Spotlight – Caitlyn Caffee

This week is NCAA Division III Week and member institutions across the country are celebrating the 10th-year event.

Division III Week, which runs from Monday through Sunday, is intended to recognize the academic and athletic accomplishments as well as the campus leadership and community service efforts of Division III student-athletes.

As part of Huntingdon College's participation in Division III Week, six student-athletes will be featured this week. Caitlyn Caffee is today's featured student-athlete.

What made you feel like Huntingdon was the right place for you? "After visiting Huntingdon for the first time and seeing the size of the campus and the small community feel it offers, I knew Huntingdon was right for me. I like to feel like I am at home, and Huntingdon was my home away from home."

As a student-athlete, what is your impression of Division III now compared to your first season? "At first, I assumed that we were just going to be average student-athletes in college. But now I see that we train just as hard, if not harder, than some higher division athletes. My first year as a student-athlete, I don't believe I really understood how much Division III values our academics while giving us the opportunity to succeed in athletics as well. Over my years, I have learned to appreciate Division III as a student-athlete because of the opportunities it has allowed me to have as a student and athlete."

What advice would you give our current underclassmen and incoming recruits to better prepare them for the next few years?  "The best advice I could give any underclassmen or incoming recruits would be to enjoy it all, the good and the bad. Huntingdon has given me my best years and my best friends and I wouldn't trade my time here for anything."

How has your experience at Huntingdon prepared you for life after Huntingdon? "Huntingdon has prepared me for life in a number of ways. The Huntingdon motto alone expresses how it has prepared me, "Enter to Grow in Wisdom; Go Forth to Apply Wisdom in Service". All of the professors, coaches and leaders that I have encountered while on campus have better prepared me by pushing me to excel. The family community here has prepared me for my future by supporting me in numerous ways."
