Hawks Season Comes To An End At Regionals Vs Berry

MONTGOMERY,Ala.- In game four of the 2024 Softball Regional, the Huntingdon Hawks(33-8 overall) fell to the Vikings of Berry College(42-5 overall) 4-3 in a back-and-forth affair.

The Hawks got off to a much faster start compared to their opening round matchup against Transylvania, earning two early hits courtesy of Brooke Stefankiewicz and Jordan Holman, but could not capitalize on their baserunners, leaving the frame with no runs. Berry took their first lead of the game in the following frame, scoring their first run of the afternoon with an RBI single to centerfield. Huntingdon responded in the third inning to take the lead, with a Jordan Holman double bringing home Kamryn Miller and Brooke Stefankiewicz.

The Hawks lead wouldn't last however, with Berry following up in the next frame with a run to even the score entering the fourth inning. Huntingdon kept applying pressure however, with Dani Holt bringing in Lauren Watts early in the fourth inning to give the Hawks back the lead 3-2.

Emblematic of the struggle between the two teams, Berry would take the lead back in the fifth inning 4-3 with two runs to hold a lead going into the final two innings. In the sixth inning, the Hawks would have bases loaded three seperate times, but could not score off of the opportunities, taking the 4-3 loss.
