LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team fell behind early and came up short at Covenant 70-67 on Wednesday.
The Lady Hawks (15-8, 7-7 USA South) trailed by 10 points with four minutes to play and cut Covenant's lead to two points, 68-66, with eight seconds left. Covenant (7-16, 3-11 USA South) hit 2-of-4 free throws to close out the game.
Raven Prater led Huntingdon with 27 points and five 3-pointers, giving her 900 career points. Prater is Huntingdon's fifth-leading career scorer during the NCAA era.
Jello Weatherspoon added 13 points and Pat Pickens scored 12 points. With the 12 points, Pickens broke Huntingdon's NCAA-era single-season scoring record and now has 403 points. Tiffany Jordan held the previous record of 402 points.
Tan Munford finished with a career-high 17 rebounds and Jodie Thomas had nine rebounds.
Huntingdon travels to Maryville on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game.
