Lady Hawks can’t overcome Maryville

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team rallied from a second-half deficit but could not overtake Maryville College in a 73-62 loss on Saturday.

The Lady Hawks trailed by 20 points midway through the third quarter but cut the Scots' lead to six points, 62-56, with 5:45 to play in the game. But that was as close as Huntingdon could get. Maryville pushed its lead back to 14 points in the final minutes and closed out the game.

Senior Juliette Harp led Huntingdon with 15 points and 10 rebounds for her 45th career double-double. Harp leads all of Division III with 16 double-doubles in 17 games this season.

T.I. Duncan and Hannah Parks each finished with nine points, followed by Keturah Billen with eight points and Payton Kiser and Alex Lowery with seven points apiece. Billen also had six rebounds and Parks had four assists.

Records: Huntingdon (11-6, 4-3 USA South); Maryville (11-7, 7-1 USA South)

Quick Facts: Maryville leads the USA South West Division with a 7-1 conference record and Huntingdon is fourth with a 4-3 mark in the USA South. Berea (5-1) is second and Piedmont (4-2) is third.
