Huntingdon ranked 4th in preseason USA South women’s basketball poll

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.  – The Huntingdon women's basketball team is ranked fourth in the West Division of the USA South Athletic Conference preseason poll.

The Lady Hawks earned 45 points in the West Division poll. Defending conference tournament champion Piedmont earned eight of a possible nine first-place votes and 64 points to earn the No. 1 spot in the West. Berea, the conference tournament runner-up last season, picked up one first-place vote and 56 points. Maryville is third with 49 points.

In the East Division, Mary Baldwin is No. 1 with three first-place votes and 57 points and Greensboro is second with four first-place votes and 56 points. Defending East Division champion Averett is third with one first-place vote and 51 points and William Peace is fourth with one first-place vote and 40 points.

Huntingdon opens the season at home on Nov. 9 against Birmingham-Southern at 6 p.m.
