Huntingdon can’t keep pace with Emory in final quarter

ATLANTA  – The Huntingdon women's basketball team fell behind in the fourth quarter and lost to Emory University 72-56 on Saturday.

The Lady Hawks only trailed by four points, 58-54, with 4:52 to play in the game. But Emory closed the fourth quarter with a 14-2 run to put the game out of reach.

Shaonica Thomas led Huntingdon with 18 points and seven rebounds and Keturah Billen had 12 points. Ry Whetstone added seven points and a team-high nine rebounds and Indya Lawrence had a game-high five assists.

Huntingdon led for most of the first quarter and more than half of the second quarter, building an eight-point lead in the first 6:03 of the game. At the half, Huntingdon trailed 26-25.

The Lady Hawks did not lead in the second half, but never trailed by more than seven points until the fourth quarter. Emory used a 27-point fourth quarter, including the late 14-2 run, to put the game away.
