Huntingdon loses to Berea in matchup of USA South West Division leaders

BEREA, Ky.  – The Huntingdon women's basketball team started strong but fell behind in the second half of a 74-47 loss to Berea College on Wednesday.

The two teams entered the game unbeaten in conference play. Berea leads the West Division with a 5-0 conference record and Huntingdon is second in the Division at 5-1.

The Hawks built a nine-point lead, 27-18, early in the second quarter but Berea closed the first half with an 11-2 run and tied the game 29-29 at halftime.

Berea pulled away in the second half, holding Huntingdon to 18 points in the final 20 minutes.

Shaonica Thomas led Huntingdon with 14 points and seven rebounds, Wyatt Bak had 12 points and Ry Whetstone finished with eight rebounds and seven points. Alina Shoemake had five assists and Kelcie Smith had three steals.
