Huntingdon survives battle at Brevard

BREVARD, N.C.  – The Huntingdon women's basketball team edged Brevard College 53-51 on Saturday.

On a day where neither team led by more than eight points, and two points separated the teams for the final 2:26 of the game, the outcome was not decided until Huntingdon's Ry Whetstone came up with a steal in the final second.

Keturah Billen made two free throws to give Huntingdon the lead for good with 2:26 left in the game. With both teams struggling to score in the final minutes, Huntingdon made the two-point lead hold up.

With the win, Huntingdon remains in second place in the West Division of the USA South with an 8-2 conference record.

Billen led Huntingdon with 16 points and seven rebounds and Whetstone recorded a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. Shaonica Thomas added 12 points and five rebounds and Indya Lawrence had three assists.
