Jackson, Mississippi – In day one of the Millsaps Thanksgiving tournament the Hawks fell to Birmingham Southern 112-87.
The Hawks and Panthers began the game close with the first quarter being back and forth. The Panthers took the early lead, and the Hawks tied it at 8 and then again at 12 before Birmingham Southern would gain control at the end of the first with a score of 21-18. The second quarter claimed no different as the Hawks brought the game within 3 points halfway through. The Panthers continued to push the ball and attempt to pull away. A three at the end of the half by BSC sealed a ten-point lead for the Panthers going into halftime. (50-40)
In the second half, the third quarter was huge for BSC as they made 5 threes compared to none from the Hawks. For the game, Birmingham Southern and Huntingdon both shot 36% from behind the arc and Huntingdon shot 50% from the field while BSC shot 39%. BSC made 9 more three's than the Hawks and won the game 112-87.
