Hawks Fly Past Wesleyan

Montgomery, Alabama – The Hawks (2-8 overall, 2-2 in the CCS) defeated Wesleyan (GA) (0-10 overall, 0-6 in the CCS) 75-33 in their fourth Collegiate Conference of the South game.

The Hawks' AB Davis, made the first basket and led the first quarter with 7-points that helped lift the Hawks to a 18-4 lead heading into the second quarter. Wesleyan's only points came from the free-throw line and Huntingdon made 2-5 three's. The second quarter played no different with the Hawks outscoring the Wolves 20-4. Senior, Alina Shoemake added a team high 5-points for the quarter and closed out the half with two seconds remaining as she let it go from behind the arc to drain a three and give the Hawks the 38-8 lead.

Key First Half Notes:

The Hawks made 6 threes for the half and caused 14 turnovers for the Wolves.

Wesleyan shot 16.7% from the field.

In the second half the Hawks kept a steady scoring pace going on a 10-3 run to start the third quarter. Huntingdon was up 52-23 heading into the fourth when a spark from behind the three point line brought their lead further. The Hawks hit 4-9 from behind the arc in the fourth and freshman, Erica Rodriguez led the way making three of those four with 12 points and 4 rebounds.

Key Game Notes:

The Hawks shot the ball 34 more times than the Wolves.

Huntingdon shot 34% from the field while Wesleyan shot 25%.

The Hawks tallied 17 assists and scored 30 points off Wesleyan's 24 turnovers.

Huntingdon made their most three's this season with 11.
