Hawks can't find rhythm vs Asbury

DEMOREST, Ga.- Huntington Women's Basketball (1-3 Overall), faced Asbury University(3-3 Overall) where they fell 89-50. 



Highlights



First Half: 

  • In the early minutes of the game, both teams exchanged turnovers and defensive possessions. The Eagles jumped ahead over the Hawks though, leading 10-4 with 6:18 left in the first quarter. 

  • With 4:23 remaining, Asbury made a free throw which led to a 13 point lead of 17-4 over the hawks and resulting in a 7-0 run. 

  • The score at the end of the first quarter was 28-7, with Asbury leading the Hawks. 

  • Makayla Ford for Huntington hit a 3 point shot to boost the Hawks point total from 11 to 14 with 1:33 in the second quarter. This cut the Asbury lead down to 47-14. 

  • The score at the end of the second quarter was 49-19. 

 

Second half: 

  • With 7:53 left in the game, Asbury hit a three pointer to extend the lead to 54-22. 

  • At 4:08 mark, the Hawks went on back to back scoring trips to cut the lead down to 62-27. 

  • At the end of the third quarter, the score was 74-32. 

  • With 3:13 in the 4th quarter, the Hawks went on a 10-0 run to make the score 86-48. 

  • The final score of the game was 89-50. 

 

Key Notes

  • Asbury shot 47% from the field while Huntington shot 27%. 

  • Asbury went 10 for 29 from 3 point range while the Hawks went 4 for 25. 

  • The Hawks outshot the Eagles 80% to 59% from the free throw line. 

  • Huntingdon's only lead was a 2-0 start to the game.
