Davis and McGruder named to CCS All-Conference First Team

MONTGOMERY,Ala.- The Collegiate Conference of the South has announced 2023-2024 Women's Basketball All-Conference teams. Juniors Kinstin Davis and Briana McGruder have each been named to the First Team All-Conference, with Cassidy Campbell being named to the CCS All-Sportsmanship team.

 

Kinstin Davis played in all 25 games for the Hawks, starting 14 of them. The Mobile, Alabama native averaged 13 points per game, with a season high of 29 on December 1st in a matchup against Rhodes, leading the Hawks in scoring and finishing with the 7th highest scoring average in the conference. She also averaged 2 assists and 4 rebounds per game.

 

Briana McGruder played in and started all 25 games for the Hawks. She finished second on the team in scoring (behind Davis), with 12.1 points per game. The Decatur, Georgia native secured an average of 7.1 rebounds per game, good enough to finish 6th in the conference for rebounding. In a 57-56 victory over Piedmont, McGruder scored 14 points, including the game-winning free throw, and grabbed 15 rebounds, her season high.

Cassidy Campbell, named to the all-sportsmanship team, played in all 25 games for the Hawks, starting 17 of them. The team captain averaged 4.5 points per game to go along with 3.5 rebounds. Over the course of the season, Campbell shot 90% from the free throw line.

 

These three Juniors led the Hawks to a 11-14 overall record and a 8-8 conference record. They look to continue their season tonight, February 20th, in the first round of the CCS tournament at Maryville. Tip off is set for 6:00 PM CT.
