Lady Hawks in 2nd after first round of MCC Intercollegiate

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's golf team turned in its best round of the fall in the opening round of the Montgomery Country Club Women's Intercollegiate on Sunday.

The Lady Hawks shot 319 and are second in the nine-team field entering Monday's final round. Sewanee leads the field at 310. Methodist is third at 326 and Oglethorpe is fourth at 327.

Junior LeeAnn Cahoon led Huntingdon with a 3-over-par 76 and is third after the first round. Sewanee's Emily Javadi turned in the best round on Sunday with a 3-under 70. Millsaps' Lauren Durbin is second at 1-over 74.

Five Huntingdon golfers are in the top 16 in the field of 58 golfers entering the final round. Freshman Hallie Rice is tied for seventh at 80, junior Courtney Harville is tied for 10th at 81, junior Savannah Humber is tied for 14th at 82 and sophomore Kelsey Spivey is tied for 16th at 83.

Playing as individuals, freshman Katelyn Gilmore shot 84, sophomore Lindsey Huff shot 85, senior Jessie Culey shot 92 and senior Shay Roberson shot 93.
