Rice’s 73 leads Lady Hawks in Callaway Women’s Invitational

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – Freshman Hallie Rice shot her best collegiate round with a 2-over-par 73 and the Huntingdon women's golf team turned in the second best round in program history on Tuesday.

The Lady Hawks shot 307 in the final round of the Callaway Women's Invitational to finish fourth with a two-round total of 633. Rhodes College finished first with a 601, the University of the Cumberlands was second at 618 and the University of South Carolina Beaufort was third at 627.

Huntingdon's final-round 307 is the second best round in program history, behind a 301 last fall in the Golfweek D3 Fall Invitational.

Rice's 73 is one stroke off the program record of 72, set by LeeAnn Cahoon in the fall of 2014. She is just the fourth Lady Hawk to shoot a 73 or better, joining Cahoon and former golfers Saem Hur and Ali Hamil. This is the third time Rice has shot 75 or better in the past eight rounds.

Rice finished eighth with a 36-hole total of 153. The 153 is Rice's second best 36-hole total as a Lady Hawk and is five strokes off the program record held by Hur.

Behind Rice, Cahoon shot a 3-over 74 on Tuesday and finished tied for 12th at 156. Sophomore Kelsey Spivey shot a two-round 161, followed by junior Courtney Harville with a two-round 163 and freshman Katelyn Gilmore with a two-round 170.

Playing as individuals, sophomore Lindsey Huff finished with a 36-hole total of 168 and senior Shay Roberson shot 189.

South Carolina Beaufort's Franzi Knoetsch was the tournament medalist with a 5-over 147.

Huntingdon will play in the Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate Invitational on March 18.
