Lady Hawks in 2nd after Rd. 1 of Rhodes Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Huntingdon women's golf team shot 315 on Sunday in the first round of the Rhodes Invitational.

Entering Monday's final round at the Windyke Country Club, the Lady Hawks are second in the eight-team field. Rhodes leads the tournament with a 301. Centre College and the University of Texas-Tyler are tied for third at 319.

"The girls had a solid day," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "They faced some windy conditions, with gusts up to 30 mph, but they shot 315 and are in second place.

"I'm really proud of Coach Ashley Crane and the girls. They know what they have to do to get to Nationals. We kept that goal alive with the way we played today."

Junior Courtney Harville led Huntingdon with a 77 in the first round and is tied for fifth. Sophomore Kelsey Spivey is tied for eighth with a 78 and freshman Katelyn Gilmore is tied for 12th with a 79.

Freshman Hallie Rice and junior LeeAnn Cahoon each shot 81 on Sunday and are tied for 17th. Playing as an individual, senior Jessie Culey shot 93.

Rhodes College's Meg Healy leads the field with a 1-under-par 71.
