Huntingdon opens play in Jekyll Island Women’s Collegiate

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's golf team shot 334 in the opening round of the Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate on Friday.

Entering Saturday's second round, the Hawks are 12th in the 16-team tournament. Methodist leads the tournament at 18-over-par 306 and Mary Hardin-Baylor is second at 312.

Debra Ann Burdeshaw led Huntingdon in the opening round with a 5-over 77. Burdeshaw is four strokes off the lead and tied for sixth.

Anna Beth Harris shot 82 in the first round, Jasmine Paynter shot 84, Emma Cox shot 91 and Lindsey Oxley shot 93.

Methodist's Paige Church leads the field with a 1-over 73.
