Lady Hawks pick up second win of the season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's lacrosse team won its second game of the season, defeating Alma 15-11 on Monday.

Leading 10-9 with 19:05 remaining in the game, the Lady Hawks used 5-2 run to close out the game, giving Huntingdon the win.

Jen Price scored the game's first goal with an assist from Ariana Kelty 12 seconds into the first half to give Huntingdon (2-3) the lead.

Price finished the game with three goals and two assists while Kelty scored four goals, added one assist and won four draw-controls.

Both teams traded goals early in the game before Huntingdon used a 7-2 run to take a 9-4 lead into halftime.

Alma (1-1) opened the second half with two early goals before Price netted her final goal. Alma scored three straight to pull within one, but goals by Jade Paul, Briana Gress, Shannen O'Leary and Kelty gave Huntingdon some breathing room with 8:39 remaining in the game.

Carolyn Smith scored the Lady Hawk's final goal to give Huntingdon the win.

Freshman goalie Katie Bianco had 11 saves, five ground balls and allowed 11 goals.

Lonnitria Keenan scored twice for the Lady Hawks. Paul had one goal and four ground balls while O'Leary netted three goals, had one assist and scooped up four ground balls.

Candace Williams had three draw-controls and Smith scored once.
