Hawks Cruise Past NC Wesleyan

ROCKY MOUNT, NC – Huntingdon (3-8 overall, 2-5 USA South) defeated NC Wesleyan (2-10 overall, 1-6 USA South) to win consecutive games for the first time this season, 8-6.

It was the Bishops who flung one by starting goalkeeper Mia Haulbrook in the first five minutes to take the lead (1-0). However, two goals from the Hawks, Mackenzie Wolford and Celina Owens-Campbell put Huntingdon in front by one (2-1) to close the first quarter.

Owens-Campbell followed up her last goal with another quick one in the first minute of the second quarter (3-1). NC Wesleyan answered with one more goal of their own before Huntingdon's 3-0 run shutout the first half. The Hawks three goals were provided by Peyton Beachler (who scored two in a row) and freshman, Amara Veng.

Traded goals in the third quarter brought the score to 7-3 as Haulbrook continued to do her job in the net. The Bishops battled to score three more goals in the fourth as they looked to climb their way out of the four point deficit but Wolford tallied the final goal for Huntingdon as they earned their second conference win.
