Hawks Taken Down By William Peace On The Road

CARY, NC.- Huntingdon women's lacrosse(2-9 overall, 2-5 USA South) was taken down by the Pacers of William Peace University(3-8 overall, 2-6 USA South) 13-7 in a road contest. The two teams were evenly contested through three quarters, but a offensive push from the Pacers in the final quarter secured their victory.

Highlights

First Quarter

  • Reagan Barrett kicked off the scoring for the afternoon with a goal off an assist from Peyton Beachler at the 11:03 mark
  • In response, the Pacers opened up a 4-0 run to close the quarter with a 4-1 lead

Second Quarter

  • At the 9:31 mark, Reagan Barrett scored her second goal of the game off an assist from Kate Hudson to bring the score to 4-2
  • Barrett scored again at the 6:36 mark off a free position attempt to bring the Hawks within one at 4-3
  • An own goal from William Peace evened the score at 4 with 5:57 remaining in the half
  • The Pacers scored two goals in the final five minutes to take a 6-4 lead into halftime

Third Quarter

  • The second half began with the defenses controlling the field over the first couple of minutes
  • The Pacers broke the ice and pushed their lead to 7-4 with a goal at the 8:59 mark
  • Peyton Beachler responded with her first goal of the game at the 7:11 mark to bring the score to 7-5
  • The Pacers scored the final goal of the quarter at the 5:56 mark, giving them an 8-5 lead entering the final period

Fourth Quarter

  • William Peace found their rhythm on the offensive end to kick off the fourth quarter, scoring four unanswered goals to lead 12-5 with 4:37 remaining
  • Kate Hudson responded with consecutive goals in the final minute of the game to cut the lead to 12-7
  • The Pacers iced the game with a goal in the final 12 seconds, taking the 13-7 victory

 

The Hawks return to action tomorrow, April 21st, at Meredith. Gametime is scheduled for 10:00 AM CT.
