Huntingdon wrestling returns to action in Brewton-Parker Duals

MT. VERNON, Ga. – The Huntingdon wrestling team returned to the mat on Monday for the first time since November.

The Hawks lost to Division II Anderson 43-3, Division II Belmont Abbey 37-9 and NAIA Brewton-Parker 30-18.

Freshman Josh Gillaspie won two matches at 165 pounds to lead the Hawks. Gillaspie defeated Anderson's Jared Costa 4-1 and Belmont Abbey's Dylan Moses 7-4.

Jesse Herron (184 pounds) and Zachary Malone (197) each earned wins against Belmont Abbey. Herron defeated Gerry Vassil 8-4 and Malone defeated Coburn Burroughs 5-1.

Against Brewton-Parker, Brandon Abejon (149) and Deon Maxwell (174) each won by pin and Wade Thomas (125) won by forfeit.

Huntingdon will compete in the Central College Invitational in Iowa on Saturday.
