Head coach Matt Oliver on today:
"The team battled through a lot today. Although we went 1-3 on the day, it does not do the results justice. These were competitive individual matches and competitive dual meets. The dual meet against Dubuque we gave up forfeits at 3 different weights causing us to be down 18-0. Two of our wrestlers had bad injuries in the previous duals to where they could not compete, forcing us to try and make adjustments. We moved our 141lber Kyron Sanks up a weight. He put us close in the match by losing by decision. Cade Sousa bumped up a weight class this weekend and showed he belongs here going 3-0 on the weekend. Nicholas Brashear had a stellar performance all weekend going 4-0 winning 3 of them by 'bonus points' including a fall over the Dubuque 184lber. As always we showed we have some improvements to make, but we also showed that we belong.
We have a young lineup with 6 of our weights being freshman or sophomores. We will get to where we need to be. It just takes time. I'm not upset with our performance, and excited for the future of this program."
