MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Huntingdon women's soccer team opened conference play with a 4-2 loss to Meredith College on Saturday.

The Avenging Angels (3-3-1, 1-0 USA South), who were ranked third in the conference preseason poll, scored three goals in the first 30 minutes of the game before Huntingdon (1-5, 0-1 USA South) answered in the second half.

"Meredith took the wind out of our sails early in the game going up 3-0," head coach Robert Milner said. "But the girls showed grit and determination to pull the game back to 3-2. Coach Emily Barber and I are very pleased with the second-half performance today and we hope it can spur us on for Sunday's game against Mary Baldwin."
