Lady Hawks cage Panthers

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's soccer team picked up its second straight USA South Athletic Conference win on Wednesday, beating LaGrange 2-0 under the lights at Samford Stadium.

The Lady Hawks (3-2-1, 2-1-0 USA South) battled the Panthers hard during the first half and held a 5-1 shot advantage at halftime. Abi Olmeda found the back of the net at the 33:17 mark with an assist from Camryn Carter to give Huntingdon a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

After a slow start to begin the second-half, the Lady Hawks scored again after Shelby Clark beat the goalie in the 77th minute with an assist from Jenna Maschino to put Huntingdon up 2-0.

Huntingdon finished with nine shots and six shots on goal.

Shelbee Mathews and Madi Critcher each recorded two shots. Critcher placed both shots on goal. Kira Bohlke, Olmeda, Jazmin Martinez, Clark and Kaylee Andrews each recorded one shot.

Goalkeeper Leah Leach recorded three saves and posted her fourth shutout of the year with the win.

Huntingdon hosts Covenant College on Friday at Samford Stadium at 7 p.m.
