Women’s Soccer Rematch Ends in Tie

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon Women's Soccer (3-5-1 overall, 1-1 CCS) hosted Millsaps College (1-6-2 overall, 0-1 conf.) in a rematch from earlier this season and tied 1-1.

Earlier this season, the Hawks opened at Millsaps where they lost the contest 3-0, so an early goal from Anaely Almeida, assisted by Joslyn Dahlberg, in the opening five minutes spiked excitement around the Hawks in the non-conference rematch.

Freshman goalkeeper, Libby Williams allowed no goals for the Majors in the first 45 minutes of play. She had seven saves while Millsaps had nine shots in the first half.

To start the second half, the Hawks defense held off the Majors and limited them to six shots but offensive for Huntingdon came slow with only one second half shot. Williams continued to work in the net for her team but a late goal attempt that included a collision was decided to be a penalty kick for the Majors in the 71st minute.

Millsaps scored the penalty kick and tied the game at one. Both teams looked to push the ball in the last 14 minutes of play but neither team could soar it past the goalkeepers.

Hawk Top Performers:
