Women’s tennis ends season with loss to Averett in USA South Tournament
LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team ended its season with a 5-3 loss to Averett in the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament on Friday.
The Lady Hawks won one doubles match and two singles matches.
Clayton Waring and Alex Burnham won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles to give Huntingdon an early 1-0 lead. With losses at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, Huntingdon trailed 2-1 entering singles.
In singles, Lucy Burch won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 to make it a 2-2 match. After a loss at No. 1, Waring won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 to tie the score 3-3. Averett clinched the match with wins at No. 4 and No. 2 singles.
