
Day Two Closes The Berry Field Day Invitational
MOUNT BERRY, Ga.- Following up on their solid first day yesterday, Huntingdon Track and Field saw their final meet of the regular season come to an end today at the Berry Field Day Invitational.
The Women's team was led by Kate Smith, who crossed the line in a season-best time of 2:31.45 in the 800m. In the field, Trinity Treadway competed in a trifecta of events, finishing 19th in the javelin throw with a mark of 23.21 meters before finishing in 21st in both the discus and the shotput later in the day. Freshman Mya Farmer finished 12th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.05 seconds, setting a new personal record, with her counterpart Nariah Travis also finding success in the 200m on the day.
The men's team was once again led on the track by Rory Gilroy. His personal-record time of 15.12 seconds in the 110m hurdles proved to be good enough for second place overall, defeating all other Division III opponents in the field. Dalan Bunn set another personal record in the 3000m, crushing his previous time by crossing the line in 10:55.47, placing him third overall in the meet with Blake Bailey coming in shortly after in 7th place. Will Shirley continuedto anchor Huntingdon's field presence, finishing 10th in the javelin throw, 14th in the shotput, and 24th in the discus. Overall, Huntingdon's men's team finished the meet with 30 points, placing them 10th out of 15 teams.
The next time the Hawks take the track, it will be at the CCS Conference Championships hosted by Maryville College. Events are scheduled for April 23rd and 24th.
