Volleyball picks up a pair of conference wins

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team won two USA South Athletic Conference matches on Sunday, defeating Mary Baldwin 3-1 and Ferrum 3-0. The Hawks hosted their second quad-match of the weekend in Roland Arena.

In the first match against the Fighting Squirrels, the Hawks won 28-26, 22-25, 25-16 and 25-23. Against the Panthers, Huntingdon won 25-22, 25-19 and 25-17.

Audrianna Hargitt led the Hawks (6-11, 2-2 USA South) with 22 kills in the two matches and posted 24 digs, three solo blocks and six block assists. Kalen Morgan and Alexis Creasman combined for 35 kills while Bria Rochelle totaled 12 kills, 30 digs, and five block assists.

Devyn Stringer recorded 66 assists and 16 digs while Shelby Young totaled 26 digs.

In the four set match against Mary Baldwin (3-11, 0-4 USA South), Morgan and Hargitt led Huntingdon with 11 kills each. Stringer had a match-high 39 assists and Young, Rochelle and Hargitt each recorded 15 digs.

In the final match of the day, Hargitt had a match-high 11 kills and posted nine digs. Stringer posted a match-high 27 assists while Rochelle led the Hawks with 15 digs.

Ferrum fell to 5-12 and 1-4 in conference play.

The Hawks host Life University on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
