Hawks pick up two wins on Day 1 of Huntingdon Invitational

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team opened the Huntingdon Invitational with a pair of wins on Friday.

The Hawks defeated Mississippi University for Women 25-19, 25-9, 28-26 and rallied to beat North Carolina Wesleyan in a five-game match. After dropping the first two games to the Battling Bishops 25-22 and 29-27, the Hawks won 25-17, 25-16, 15-9 in the final three games.  

Amy Tyma, Alexis Creasman, Addison Genard and April Reese combined for 75 of the Hawks' 93 kills in the two matches. Tyma totaled 21 kills and 35 digs for the day, Creasman had 19 kills, Genard had 18 kills and seven blocks and Reese finished with 17 kills.

Setters Kaitlyn Carter (35), Ashley Murphy (24) and Emma Moore (19) combined for 78 assists and Nichole LeFevre had 19 digs.
