MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon volleyball team earned a split in a conference tri-match with Maryville and Piedmont on Saturday at Roland Arena.

The Hawks went to five games with both teams, falling to Maryville 25-21, 19-25, 16-25, 25-19, 16-14 and beating Piedmont 25-21, 23-25, 24-26, 25-22, 15-2.

The loss to Maryville was the first conference loss of the season and snapped Huntingdon's seven-match winning streak but the win over Piedmont kept the Hawks at the top of the USA South's West Division standings.  

Huntingdon (6-1 USA South) and Covenant (6-1 USA South) are tied for first in the West Division and Maryville (5-2 USA South) is third.

Five Hawks combined for 92 of Huntingdon's 98 kills in the two matches. Amy Tyma, who leads the conference with 250 kills, finished with 28 kills and 49 digs on Saturday. Alexis Creasman followed with 23 kills, April Reese added 17 kills, Addison Genard had 14 kills and Shelby McAllister totaled 10 kills.

Kaitlyn Carter (34), Ashley Murphy (30) and Emma Moore (18) accounted for 82 assists in the two matches.  Carter's 373 assists this season rank fifth in the USA South.
