Huntingdon reaches 20 wins with USA South sweep

BREVARD, N.C. – The Huntingdon volleyball team swept Brevard College and Piedmont College in a conference quad-match on Saturday.

The Hawks beat Brevard 25-21, 25-19, 25-19 and downed Piedmont 25-17, 25-17, 25-16.

With the sweep, Huntingdon reached 20 wins for a second straight season. This is the third time since 2005 the Hawks have reached 20 wins in a season.

Amy Tyma (35) and April Reese (20) combined for 55 kills in the two matches, Tyma (31) and Lexie DeVuyst (35) combined for 66 digs and Ashley Murphy had 56 assists

Records: Huntingdon (20-12, 9-2 USA South); Brevard (1-22, 1-10 USA South); Piedmont (8-17, 4-7 USA South)

Notable            

USA South standings: With three conference matches remaining, Huntingdon is second in the West Division of the USA South with a 9-2 record. Maryville leads the West with a 12-0 conference record and LaGrange is third with a 7-4 conference record.

Tyma climbs in national stat rankings: With the release of the most recent national statistics, Tyma ranked fourth in Division III with 407 kills this season. Including Saturday's matches, Tyma now has 442 kills this season. As a team, the Hawks ranked eighth in Division III in kills and lead the USA South in kills, assists, digs and blocks.
