Hawks Lose to Asbury in Sewanee Classic

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Huntingdon Volleyball (0-6 overall) fell to Asbury (3-2 overall) in five sets, 3-2.

It was the Hawks who struck first taking the first set 25-20, getting up as much as 9 points and holding the lead for the entire set.

Asbury fought back in the second set with six tied scores between the teams until Asbury created separation from Hawk errors and took the second set win.

Tied in the game 1-1, a close third set was underway. Huntingdon held the lead for the entire set until the 16th point put Asbury on top. After that, the Eagles held the lead despite Ashlen Janowski's effort with back-to-back kills to spark energy for her team.

Huntingdon stormed the fourth set, clawing their way back into the game. Three errors from Asbury and service aces from Janowski gave the Hawks the momentum they needed to take the fourth set and push the game to five.

In the fifth, points were traded, and the Hawks never trailed by more than three. However, the Eagles capitalized off Huntingdon errors to take the game in a close final set, 15-12.

The Hawks return to The University of the South tomorrow to take on Greensboro and Sewanee at 1:00 PM CT and 5:00 PM CT.
