Hawks Taken Down By Lynchburg

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga- Huntingdon Volleyball was defeated by the Lynchburg Hornets 3-1 on Friday night.

 

Huntingdon took the first set of the match in an extra-scoring affair, 30-28. The Hawks opened up the game on a 5-1 scoring run led by Ashlen Janowski and Molly Wilson. From that point, Lynchburg would go on to even the score at 11 later in the set. The rest of the set would be highly contested, with the two teams trading points throughout. Tied at 25, the Hawks took advantage of 3 late errors from the Hornets, with a kill from Kennedy Chambers closing out the set.

 

The second set belonged to Lynchburg by a score of 25-20. The set started off similarly to the first one, with the teams trading blows throughout. In the set, the Hawks earned three more kills than the Hornets, earning 15 to their 12, but in the end, Lynchburg was able to take advantage of 9 errors from Huntingdon, which tied for the match high.

 

Lynchburg defeated the Hawks in the third set as well by a score of 25-18. Huntingdon's 42 total attempts at the net resulted in 11 kills, while Lynchburg scored a more efficient 9 kills on 39 total attempts.

 

To end the match, Huntingdon was defeated 25-19 in the last set. Once again, the Hawks battled with the Hornets, trading blows throughout. A 7-2 scoring run to open the set would prove to be too much for the Hawks, and they were unable to recover.

 

The Hawks look forward to hosting the LaGrange Panthers in the first round of the CCS Championship tournament in Roland arena on November 7th at 7 PM.
