FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – More than 150 Huntingdon College student-athletes were recognized with the release of the USA South Academic All-Conference team on Thursday.

Craig Duncan, shown here on left, was announced as Huntingdon's new wrestling coach on Wednesday. Duncan spent the past 11 seasons as the head wrestling coach at St. James School. He led the Trojans to the Class 1A-4A state title in 2013 and a Class 1A-4A runner-up finish in 2014.

ROME, Ga. – The Huntingdon wrestling team returned to action at Division II Shorter University on Saturday. Shorter, which was nationally ranked for much of the season and was ranked in the Top-10 earlier this season, won 54-0.

PELLA, Iowa – The Huntingdon wrestling team won eight matches in the Central College Under Armour Invitational on Saturday. Josh Gillaspie and Brewer Gilliland combined to win seven matches for the Hawks. Brandon Abejon won the Hawks' other match. Team scores were not kept for the tournament.

MT. VERNON, Ga. – The Huntingdon wrestling team returned to the mat on Monday for the first time since November. The Hawks lost to Division II Anderson 43-3, Division II Belmont Abbey 37-9 and NAIA Brewton-Parker 30-18.

SMYRNA, Tenn. – The Huntingdon wrestling team competed in four matches in the MTSU Duals on Saturday. The Hawks competed against one NAIA team and three club teams. The Hawks defeated the University of Tennessee-Knoxville club team 42-9, lost to NAIA Cumberland University 30-9, defeated the University of Memphis club team 49-6 and lost to the Middle Tennessee State University club team 53-0.

Freshman Mason Baldwin earned the first NCAA-era individual win for the first-year wrestling team. Baldwin defeated Washington and Lee's Marshall Olszewski 8-1 in the 157-pound weight class on Sunday.

LEXINGTON, Va. – Freshmen Mason Baldwin and Jesse Herron each earned individual wins for the first-year Huntingdon wrestling team on Sunday in the Washington and Lee Duals. Baldwin picked up the first NCAA-era win in program history, defeating Washington and Lee's Marshall Olszewski 8-1 in the 157-pound weight class. Herron defeated Washington and Lee's George Matelich 6-2 in the 184-pound weight class.

First-year wrestling program begins competition on Sunday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – It was a night of excitement and opportunity. When the first-year Huntingdon wrestling team held its first public scrimmage on Nov. 8, few were certain of what to expect. For the wrestlers, there was an uncertainty of what kind of crowd and atmosphere would await the newest Hawks. But the excitement of competing in front of a crowd for the first time and the opportunity to help introduce fans to Huntingdon's newest sport helped create a memorable first impression.
