Huntingdon’s Terry looking for big summer in National Premier Soccer League

MADISON, Wis. – Huntingdon senior Stacy Terry has his summer mapped out. Terry is spending May, June and July playing for the Madison 56ers in the National Premier Soccer League.
Huntingdon joins USA South Athletic Conference

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Huntingdon College President J. Cameron West announced today that Huntingdon will join the NCAA-Division III USA South Athletic Conference beginning in the fall of 2013. Huntingdon and Covenant College (Ga.) were approved as members at a meeting of the USA South presidents yesterday. Current USA South members are Averett University (Va.), Ferrum College (Va.), Greensboro College (N.C.), Mary Baldwin College (Va.), Meredith College (N.C.), Methodist University (N.C.), N.C. Wesleyan College (N.C.), William Peace University (N.C.), and the conference's newest members, LaGrange College (Ga.), Piedmont College (Ga.), and Maryville College (Tenn.).

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon junior Stacy Terry watched the video and was stunned. The video in question dealt with bullying and its connection with youth suicide. Once Terry's initial shock wore off, he became motivated to try and do something about it. With the help of his soccer teammate Nick Alverson, Terry hopes College Students Against Bullying will be an active organization on the Huntingdon campus next fall.

Twenty Hawks earn Academic All-Conference honors

DECATUR, Ga. – The Great South Athletic Conference recently recognized 20 Huntingdon student-athletes in four sports with the release of the GSAC All-Academic teams. The student-athletes from volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer and women’s cross country excelled in the classroom while representing the Hawks in competition this fall.

LaGRANGE, Ga. – Rusty Cowley scored two goals and Dallas Thomas had two assists to lift the Huntingdon men’s soccer team in the Great South Athletic Conference semifinals on Friday. The Hawks knocked off Piedmont 2-1 and will face top-seeded Maryville (13-4-2) in the GSAC finals on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

DECATUR, Ga. – Huntingdon freshman Atli Johannsson was named the Great South Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year on Thursday. The GSAC announced its men’s soccer awards Thursday afternoon and will present the awards on Saturday during the GSAC tournament in LaGrange, Ga.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Dallas Thomas scored early for Huntingdon, but Piedmont rallied to win 2-1 on Saturday. Thomas scored in the 15th minute but Piedmont (6-7-2, 2-1 Great South Athletic Conference) answered with a Nick Weatherby goal in 23rd minute and another Weatherby goal in the 55th minute.

Dallas Thomas scored in the 25th minute and Blake Spike scored on a Chris Blight assists midway through the second half for a 2-0 win.
