FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – More than 150 Huntingdon College student-athletes were recognized with the release of the USA South Academic All-Conference team on Thursday.

Tiffany Taylor had two hits and two RBIs, including a solo home run, in Wednesday's doubleheader at Agnes Scott.

DECATUR, Ga. – The Huntingdon softball team closed the season with a split at Agnes Scott on Wednesday. The Lady Hawks fell 7-1 in Game 1 and won 5-0 in Game 2.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Huntingdon softball team's run in the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament came to an end on Saturday. The Lady Hawks fell to second-seeded William Peace 5-0.

Lady Hawks advance to Day 2 of USA South Tournament

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Huntingdon softball team lost its first game of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday but avoided elimination with a win in its second game. Huntingdon fell to LaGrange 7-1 to open the day and eliminated North Carolina Wesleyan 3-1 to advance to Day 2 of the conference tournament. The fifth-seeded Lady Hawks (19-16) will play second-seeded William Peace (19-14-1) at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Senior pitcher Katy Messick was named honorable mention All-Conference. Messick is 11-6 this season with a 2.68 ERA and 85 strikeouts in 104 1/3 innings. She ranks third in the conference with 13 complete games, fourth in wins, fifth in strikeouts and sixth in ERA. (Photo by Wesley Lyle)

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon senior Katy Messick was recognized by the USA South Athletic Conference on Wednesday with the release of the All-Conference softball teams.

Senior Katy Messick pitched a complete-game shutout in Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader at Methodist. Messick struck out eight, walked five and allowed just three hits in seven innings. She was also 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run. (Photo by Christopher Morgan)
Softball splits with Methodist, earns 5th seed for conference tournament

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Huntingdon softball team dropped Game 1 but bounced back to win Game 2 on Sunday at Methodist. After losing 10-2 in five innings, the Lady Hawks responded with an 8-0 win in the second game. With the win in Game 2, Huntingdon (18-15, 13-10) clinched the fifth seed in the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Huntingdon softball team battled North Carolina Wesleyan in a pair of one-run games on Saturday. The Lady Hawks came up short 4-3 in Game 1 and won the second game 3-2.

This week is NCAA Division III Week and member institutions across the country are celebrating the fourth-year event. Division III Week, which runs from Monday through Sunday, is intended to recognize the academic and athletic accomplishments as well as the campus leadership and community service efforts of Division III student-athletes. As part of Huntingdon College’s participation in Division III Week, six student-athletes will be featured this week. Huntingdon senior Gabby Alcantar is today’s featured student-athlete.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon softball team earned a split with 21st-ranked Averett University on Sunday and handed the previously unbeaten Cougars their first loss of the season. The Cougars (25-1-1) pushed their winning streak to 22 games with a 12-1 win in five innings in Game 1. The Lady Hawks (13-11, 8-6 USA South) snapped the winning streak with a 3-2 win in Game 2.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon softball team earned its third conference sweep of the season on Saturday. Huntingdon knocked off Greensboro 4-3 in eight innings in Game 1 and won 8-6 in Game 2. The Lady Hawks (12-10, 7-5 USA South) have won nine of their last 10 games.
