GUELPH, Ontario – Huntingdon senior Gavin Free received a standing ovation as he walked off the mound at Posey Field for the final time in late April. Free's days as a collegiate pitcher may be behind him, but the Opp, Alabama native isn't done with baseball. Free recently signed to play in Canada's Intercounty Baseball League for Ontario's Guelph Royals.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon freshman Will Pharis was named USA South Rookie of the Year and three other Hawks were named first-team or second-team All-Conference on Wednesday. Senior center fielder Trammell DeJarnett was named first-team and Pharis, senior pitcher Gavin Free and junior second baseman Jordan Freeman were named second-team All-Conference. Senior first baseman Tyler Blackwell was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon scored seven runs in the final four innings but lost to Emory 13-7 on Saturday at Posey Field. This was the second game of a three-game series with Emory and the final home game of the season for the Hawks. Huntingdon (21-16) will play at Emory (28-10) on Sunday at 1 p.m.

This week is NCAA Division III Week and member institutions across the country are celebrating the third-year event. Division III Week, which runs from Monday through Sunday, is intended to recognize the academic and athletic accomplishments as well as the campus leadership and community service efforts of Division III student-athletes. As part of Huntingdon College’s participation in Division III Week, five student-athletes will be featured this week. Huntingdon senior Trammell DeJarnett is today’s featured student-athlete.
Pharis’ walk-off home run lifts Hawks in Game 2 with Averett

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Freshman Will Pharis hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Huntingdon baseball team a 5-4 win over Averett in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday. Pharis, who led off the bottom of the ninth, took the first pitch and launched it into Fairview Avenue beyond the right field fence. The home run was his third of the season. The win helped Huntingdon (18-12, 13-7 USA South) salvage a split with the Cougars in the first two games of a three-game conference series. Averett took the first game 7-1.

MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Jordan Freeman, Will Pharis and Clark Berry combined for 10 RBIs and pitchers Gavin Free and Nathan Edwards combined for a three-hitter as the Huntingdon baseball team won Game 3 of a conference series at Maryville on Monday. The Hawks scored nine runs in the first three innings to spark a 14-1 win in seven innings.
